SLACKER
So I have been way behind on getting new posts up. Apologies to whoever is really keeping track of this. I still need to post the infamous fire extinguisher photos; once I get them back from Allyson I will post them immediately.
March is going to be a hell a month. St. Ratricks Day, Bock Fest, Ghost Mice, Japanther...the list goes on. There will be tons of photos for all of March. The only problem I have with keeping up is the financial aspect of printing the pictures and buying film. I will turn down rolls of film if anyone has any to spare.
I will let you know when I have some new shit up.

SOCIALIST FUND RAISER
Bikehaus hosted a fundraiser for the International Socialist Organization on Saturday. Caterpillar Tracks played along with The Read, and Digital Kate. As usual, nobody showed up until about ten o'clock, but, of course it ended up packed. The Read started the evening by playing first; it was quite the typical set in which people hit the floor, gave high fives, and sang along with every word of the songs. Caterpillar Tracks played after The Read and I was pleasantly surprised. Apparently the have been around Cincinnati for five years and I feel like an asshole because they are awesome and I have never heard of them. I spoke to them and tried to encourage them to play more shows at places like Bikehaus so the other end of the Cincinnati scene can hear them. Definitely a great band to see. After the bands played, Digital Kate set up and ended up Djing through what may have been the worst snow storm in history. I think we all now know that we cannot leave a fire extinguisher within the reach of anybody at a Bikehaus show. I will leave it at that for now because I have some pictures to go along with that story.
THE GRAMMER'S CURSE
So I can admit that I am a little afraid of the dark. I also don't take pleasure in being scared, so, the only explanation I have for going into a dark attic in a bar that has a reputation for being haunted is that snake bites get the best of me. Friday night was Saria's birthday ( I think that is how she spell's her name) so a bunch of people met up for it at Grammer's in OTR. I have to say getting locked in the terrifying pitch black attic and watching Troy practice his, "Punk Jumps" made the evening. As usual, we all had a little to good of a time.

NOT ENOUGH?
TAKE A PICTURE OF THIS/KEEPING UP APPEARANCES
Take a Picture of This/Keeping Up Appearances is a zine created by Katie Baxter-Habib and Nicholas Flessa. I am pretty sure that is just going to be a collection of both of their drawings and writings. On Saturday I went to the release party at Freespace, which is apparently ending now, there were also a few of Katie's paintings on display, some prints by Andrew Swill, and a few other pieces by other artists. Swill also read some of his work along with a few other poets.
It was a slightly uncofortable experience at first; it was crowded, hot, and I had a large backpack on which made me run into everyone and everything around me. I hate that. So as I put back a few cans of Schlitz my backpack became lighter and lighter and the event became a lot more fun. The zine is pretty cool. The dark details in Katie's drawing on the Take a Picture of This side are almost frightening, they perfectly show the contours of the faces of her imaginative creartures/people. Nicholas also has some fantastic drawings, sometimes in the form a comic, but often with little satirical captions. Get your hands on a copy of Take a Picture of This/Keeping Up Appearances if you see it around, or ask Katie or Nicholas about it if you see them.

Oh by the way, I had been told by a person who shall not be named due to humiliation, that a group I play with called Jazzfuck was going to play with Lightening Bolt at Art Damage. Apparently that is not true at all. I saw "the johns" at Freespace last night and they informed me that this was a lie. Bummer.

AWMP
So I am going to be posting more pictures soon. As soon as I take more pictures.
Until then, my band A Winter's Meat Petal recorded some new stuff and I would like people to hear it. We haven't done anything in awhile so I am trying to remind people that we exist. Check them out, give us some feedback, and enjoy.

JOHN HAYS
CVG
So last night, some friends and I went to a fashion show/poetry reading/musical performance/dance party. It was an interesting evening.
We walked into this enormous studio apartment in Covington to find a line of drunken, wine and cheese filled models waiting for their turn to strut down the garbage bag and duct tape runway. There was a reoccurring black line across the face theme and lots of glitter amongst them. Never let me paint a black line across my face. Their ringleader was standing on top of a chair screaming the incorrect lyrics to "Hypnotize", and I quote, "Diggie Diggie Diggie can't you see..." I thought that was pretty hilarious.
I sound like I hated last night but to be honest it was a lot of fun. It was a little startling at first because of the concentrated amount of people standing watching the fashion show, especially when some dude puked and then kept hanging out. I must say if I puked at a party like this, I would be out of the door in a second. It is just common courtesy.
Regardless, here are some pictures from the evening.

Well she got her daddys car
And she cruised through the hamburger stand now
Seems she forgot all about the library
Like she told her old man now
And with the radio blasting
Goes cruising just as fast as she can now
And shell have fun fun fun
til her daddy takes the t-bird away
Well the girls cant stand her
cause she walks looks and drives like an ace now
(you walk like an ace now you walk like an ace)
She makes the indy 500 look like a roman chariot race now
(you look like an ace now you look like an ace)
A lotta guys try to catch her
But she leads them on a wild goose chase now
(you drive like an ace now you drive like an ace)
And shell have fun fun fun
til her daddy takes the t-bird away
(fun fun fun til her daddy takes the t-bird away)
Well you knew all along
That your dad was gettin wise to you now
(you shouldnt have lied now you shouldnt have lied)
And since he took your set of keys
Youve been thinking that your fun is all through now
(you shouldnt have lied now you shouldnt have lied)
But you can come along with me
cause we gotta a lot of things to do now

a grammar's birthday.
It was Mykah's birthday yesterday. Everyone went to Grammar's for that and the gold sprints. I didn't get any photos of the gold sprints but it was pretty neat.
Allyson, Tye, and I also had some guests stay with us from Argentina and Brazil. They are traveling through America and needed a place to stay in Cincinnati, so, we have been trying to show them a good time during their short visit.
enjoy.

THANKS RODNEY
The two guys that performed at Tee's on Wednesday go by Dan Wiley. It's the lead singer's name. They were really fantastic, kind of reminded me of the Magnetic Fields. They are from D.C., hopefully they come around again.

Back to Back
So I posted this and the last post together because they were on the same roll of film and in the same house.
These are some cool acts that performed at Tee, Cody, and Brian's place the night after Cody and Paige's birthday party.
The solo act is from Richmond, VA. His name is John but his stage name if you will is Galt. He does not like the name anymore. I forget the other groups name, Ill post it soon but they were incredible in my opinion. Cool guys as well.
I missed Bathe in Bleach which is sad, but, I will include a photograph of the lovely Brad Keith.
